Number Sense Activities

One thing I use all year long in my first grade classroom are these super easy to use Roll-a-Number mats. These number sense activities are part of my “math choices” for students when they are finished with their daily math work. I simply print and laminate my mats for the year. Kids can roll, add, and cover or roll, build, and cover independently while I am correcting the math workbook pages around the classroom. You can see some examples of how we use them in my class in the photos here.

This set of mats for the entire year are differentiated so you can use them with one, two, or three dice. It also comes with a handy recording sheet to just roll and record the equation or number sentence. It’s perfect for a kindergarten or first grade classroom. You can find this handy product right here in my TpT store: Number Sense Activities-Roll, Count, Build All Year

Why do we have students practice number sense as an early finisher activity in math? It helps develop a deep knowledge of number relationships and supports fact fluency. It is fun for your students and they are learning while they play.

I hope you find this little product as helpful as I do. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Happy teaching!
